  • Getting lost in the beautiful maze that is the Alfama District

  • Seeking out the best pastel da nata in Lisbon (and the world)

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Overnight flight

Cozy up on your flight to Portugal, where you’ll sip port wine, climb looots of hills (oops), and explore two of the most underrated coastal cities on the entire planet.

  • Day 2: Arrive in Porto + Welcome Dinner

Bom dia from Porto, a city of people so resilient that it’s nicknamed Invicta—aka invincible. Coincidently, after a Welcome Dinner and a good night’s sleep, you’ll feel invincible in Porto.

    Today's highlights:

    • Land at the airport and meet an EF representative.
    • Transfer to your accommodations and check in.
    • Meet your Tour Director and get deets on tomorrow’s schedule.
    • Head to a local spot for an included dinner with your group.
  • Day 3: Explore Porto

Get to know the ins and outs of the city with a tripeiro—a Porto native. Today, you’ll take on 2,000 (confirmed not a typo) years of history and likely take an equal amount of photos.

    Today's highlights:

    • See the bustling Avenida dos Aliados and the steeeeeeep Rua de Fabrica.
    • Visit Praça Guilherme Gomes Fernandes, Praça de Gomes Teixeira, and Praça de Lisboa Park.
    • Find your next read under the stained-glass roof at The Lello Bookstore.
  • Day 4: Free day in Porto + optional Douro river cruise and wine tasting

Get out there and discover what else Porto has to offer, like tinned fish…maybe. If you’re really feeling yourself, join the optional cruise and wine tasting.

    Free time suggestions

Porto Cathedral: Visit a structure that dates back to the 12th century to admire its traditional gothic style and Portuguese tiling.

Dom Luís I Bridge: Walk along the bridge’s upper deck for wildly-beautiful panoramic views of Porto and the Douro River.

Crystal Palace: Wander through the many sprawling and themed gardens while enjoying views of the river and city.

Douro river cruise and wine tasting (extra cost)

Take a boat cruise through the hills of the Douro Valley and spend some time sipping local wines like sweet, red Port.

  • Day 5: Travel to Lisbon via Aveiro

Next up: Lisbon. But first, Aveiro—a coastal city known for its canals and colorful boats known as moliceiros.

    Today's highlights:

    • Take a group boat ride through Aveiro’s canals on a moliceiro.
    • Stroll through Aveiro and grab a bite to eat during some free time.
    • Arrive in Lisbon and choose your own adventure: food, club, or bed.

    Free time suggestions

Art Nouveau City Walk (Aveiro): Head to Museu Arte Nova and pick up a city map of Art Nouveau around Aveiro. Follow the map and be sure to have your camera on a walking tour to discover the unique buildings from this style of art.

  • Day 6: Sightseeing in Lisbon

This colorful Portuguese capital is home to classic European charm, breathtaking vistas, and a comfy coastal climate. No wonder it’s the oldest city in Western Europe—who wouldn’t settle down here?

    Today's highlights:

    • Traverse the labyrinth of Alfama, the oldest district of Lisbon.
    • Ride on the iconic yellow trolley that was imported from the U.S. in 1901.
  • Day 7: Free day in Lisbon + optional Sintra day trip + Farewell Dinner

Before you say “tchau” to Lisbon, you have one last free day to cross any final items off your bucket list. To cap things off, share some laughs (and maybe shed a few tears) at in included Farewell Dinner with your group.

    Free time suggestions

Mercado da Ribeira: You know Time Out Market in the States? This is that. The biggest food market in the city is the best spot to indulge in local food and drink.

National Tile Museum: It’s hard to miss the colorful tiles that adorn Lisbon. Here, you’ll explore a collection of azulejo, traditional Iberian tilework.

Sintra & Portuguese Riviera (extra cost)

Crest the Sintra Mountains for a visit to the Palácio da Pena. Then, visit the coastline of Cascais for lunch and free time.

  • Day 8: Fly home

    Adeus, amigos!
Translation: goodbye, friends! Your next destination awaits—home. But this isn’t goodbye. It’s “See you later.” The only question is, where?
